ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – NORTH WEST PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT
The North West Provincial Government is one of the departments of the South African government, responsible for providing leadership and efficient, coordinated service delivery aimed at the growth and development of the province and its residents.
The various departments under the North West Provincial Government include Health, Public Works and Roads, Rural Development, Local Government, Education, Sports Development, Social Development, Tourism, and more.
ABOUT THE NORTH WEST PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT BURSARY PROGRAMMES – FIELDS COVERED
The Office of the Premier, North West Provincial Government, invites students to apply for the Victor Thebe Sifora Provincial Bursary Scheme for the 2025 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded to students residing in the North West province for studies in the following fields:
Agriculture:
Bio Resource Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree)
Food Science and Food Technology (Bachelor’s Degree)
Plant Pathology and Entomology (Bachelor’s Degree)
Soil Science and Agronomy (Bachelor’s Degree)
Veterinary Science (BVSc) (Bachelor of)
Arts, Culture, Sports, and Recreation:
Film and Television (Bachelor of Arts)
Translation Studies (Bachelor’s Degree)
Education:
Sign Language and Braille (Grades R-3 and Grades 4-6) (Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma)
Health:
Audiology (Bachelor’s Degree)
Radiography (Bachelor’s Degree)
Speech Therapy (Bachelor’s Degree)
Mining:
Chemical, Mining Engineering, and Mineral Beneficiation (Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma)
Electrical, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma)
Environmental Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma)

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by no later than March 2025. If you do not receive any feedback by this time, please regard your application as unsuccessful.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NWPG BURSARIES
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
You must be a South African citizen.
You must reside in the North West province.
You must be in Matric in 2024 or have completed Matric.
You must be studying or intending to study full-time toward an undergraduate qualification in one of the fields listed above, in 2025.
You must be studying or intending to study at a recognized and accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa.
You must have a strong academic record.
Preference will be given to students in financial need.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE NWPG BURSARIES

Required Supporting Documentation for NWPG Bursary Application
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
ID Document (certified copy)
Matric Final Results/Certificate (certified copy) – (NSC certificate must be submitted as soon as received)
Final Results/Latest Academic Results (certified copy) – if currently studying
Proof of University Acceptance Letter (certified copy) – if available
Parents or Guardians Proof of Income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, pension statements if on state pension, death certificate if deceased)
Proof of Residence (letter from Traditional Authority Offices if residing in a village, letter from Municipality Offices if residing in a Town, Township, or farm) (NOT statement of account, e.g., water bill, etc.)
Proof of Disability (doctors letter/medical record) – if disabled
Please ensure all documents are certified, as incomplete applications will be disqualified.
