Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified Clinic Practitioner (Clinic Sister) to join the new Bedford Crossing store. The successful candidate will manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy, delivering high-quality patient care within the professional scope of a registered nurse practitioner.


Minimum requirements

Essential

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Tertiary qualifications in general nursing

  • Degree/Diploma in midwifery

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

  • Must obtain BHF registration

  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister

  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Advantageous

  • Minimum 5 years of PHC experience

  • Knowledge of Patient Record Systems (CKS & Allegra)


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinic staff sister duties according to healthcare regulations and best practices.

  • Manage clinic objectives, including the feet-per-hourincluding the feet-per-hour rate and patient care goals.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and follow up on communication.

  • Ensure clinic operations align with set business hours.

  • Process claims accurately and timely.

  • Maintain stock control and ensure equipment is functional.

  • Build and sustain positive relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and the community.


Competencies

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of Primary Health Care, Community Health Nursing, and Occupational Health.

  • Proficiency in family planning, cytology, IUD insertion, wound care, pathology, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding support, immunisations, STDs, and emergency care.

  • Strong English communication (written & verbal).

  • Ability to interpret and act on monthly clinic statistics.

  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, and integrity.

  • Strong time management and leadership skills.

Advantageous

  • Bilingual proficiency.

  • Knowledge of business objectives.

  • Completed courses in:

    • Baby Immunisation (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur)

    • Family Planning (DoH)

    • Primary health care

    • Breastfeeding Support

    • Disease Management


Special Conditions of Employment

  • Willingness to work retail hours.

  • Physically fit to manage clinic demands.

  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.

  • South African citizen with clear credit and criminal record.
