NSFAS Bursary & Student Loan Guide
Who Qualifies?
- Bursary: South African citizens/permanent residents with a household income ≤ R350 000 (≤ R600 000 if living with a disability).
- Loan: South African citizens/permanent residents with a household income between R350 001 – R600 000.
What Does NSFAS Cover?
Bursary Funding Includes:

Student Loan Covers:
✔ Tuition fees & learning materials

Who Cannot Apply?
✘ Students fully funded by other bursaries
✘ Students applying for a second undergrad or certificate qualification
✘ Students at private institutions
✘ Non-DHET/SAQA accredited qualifications

Track Your NSFAS Status
- Log in to myNSFAS
- Go to Track Funding Progress
- View updates: Application Submitted | Under Review | Approved | Rejected
- If rejected, submit an appeal with supporting documents
