Job Description:

Dis-Chem seeks a Qualified Clinic Sister to manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:

  • Grade 12

  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing

  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)

  • BHF registration (required)

  • 2-3 years' experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)

• Advantageous:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Primary Health Care Sister

  • Experience with Patient Record System, CKS, and Allegra

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and operate the clinic according to industry regulations and best practices.

• Enhance patient "feet-per-hour" rates and set clinic objectives.

• Ensure availability of all clinic services.

• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure effective communication.

• Ensure clinic operation adheres to specified hours.

• Process claims accurately and timeously.

• Maintain clinic equipment and ensure adequate stock levels.

• Build and maintain relationships with patients, store management, medical aids, suppliers, and other healthcare stakeholders.

Competencies:

• Essential:

  • Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care.

  • Completion of quarterly CPD training and Dis-Chem in-service training.

  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral).

  • Ability to analyze monthly clinic statistics and commission.

  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, trustworthiness, and honesty.

  • Self-management, self-direction, and self-motivation.

  • Time management skills.

• Advantageous:

  • Bilingualism

  • Knowledge and understanding of Dis-Chem's business objectives.

  • Completion of relevant courses (Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, Disease Management).

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Willingness and ability to work retail hours.

• Physical fitness for the demands of a Primary Health Care Clinic.

• Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.

• South African citizenship.
