About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is opening a new store in Parelberg, Paarl and requires the services of a reputable Pharmacist. The successful candidate will take responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and provide excellent pharmaceutical care in line with Dis-Chem’s high standards.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

• Grade 12 / Matric

• BPharm or equivalent qualification

• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

• 2–3 years’ pharmaceutical experience

• 2–3 years’ retail pharmacy experience (student/intern experience included)

• Computer literate (MS Office)

Advantageous

• Previous retail / FMCG experience

• Proficiency in a third language

• SAP or e-scripting experience

• Registered tutor status

• Unisolv system knowledge

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pharmaceutical care by ensuring safe, effective, and appropriate use of medicines.

• Dispense and check prescriptions, ensuring full compliance with SAPC guidelines.

• Provide patient counselling on correct medicine usage, side effects, and dosages.

• Oversee and guide assistants/interns, signing off prescriptions when required.

• Maintain accurate patient and medical aid records.

• Manage stock control, ordering, and regulatory compliance.

• Support the Dispensary Manager with reporting, audits, and administration.

• Promote public health awareness and deliver excellent customer service.

Working Conditions

• Must be registered with the SAPC

• Willing to work retail hours (including weekends and holidays)

• Physically fit, able to stand for extended periods

• Valid driver’s license & own reliable transport

• South African citizen with clear credit and criminal record
