📌 Purpose of the Role

Johannesburg Water seeks two experienced Process Controllers to join the wastewater treatment team. The role supports the Senior Process Controller in ensuring that all wastewater and sludge treatment activities comply with Water Act regulations, while maintaining employee safety and plant efficiency.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

• Monitor SCADA and record daily plant readings.

• Conduct physical machinery and plant inspections.

• Identify and isolate faulty equipment.

• Unblock pipes and pumps when required.

• Clean and wash sedimentation tanks.

• Operate and maintain national pump stations.

• Report process issues to the Senior Process Controller.

• Raise maintenance job cards and coordinate follow-up.

🎓 Minimum Qualifications & Experience

For 9+ Years Wastewater Experience

• Grade 10 (Std 8 / NTC I) + Operators Certificate OR

• Grade 10 (Std 8 / NTC I) + Water & Wastewater NQF3 Core Unit Standards (30+ credits)

For 7+ Years Wastewater Experience

• Grade 11 (Std 9 / NTC II) + Operators Certificate OR

• Grade 11 (Std 9 / NTC II) + Water & Wastewater Treatment N2 OR

• Grade 11 (Std 9 / NTC II) + Water & Wastewater NQF3 (30+ credits)

For 3+ Years Wastewater Experience

• Matric (Grade 12 / NTC III) + Operators Certificate OR

• Matric (Grade 12 / NTC III) + Water & Wastewater Treatment N3 OR

• Matric (Grade 12 / NTC III) + Water & Wastewater NQF4 (30+ credits)

For 2+ Years Wastewater Experience

• Water & Wastewater NQF5 Qualification

For Entry-Level (0+ Years Experience)

• National Diploma / Technical Diploma / NTC VI in:

  • Microbiology / Biochemistry / Chemistry

  • Chemical Engineering / Watercare / Water Sciences OR

• Water & Wastewater NQF6 Qualification

⚙️ Additional Requirements

• Valid Code EB Driver’s License

• Knowledge of SCADA systems

• Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) practices

• Must be registered as Class III with the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS)
