What is Candide? (A brief history)
Candide was established in 2017 and has assumed many guises over the years. Throughout each evolution the team had a singular mission: to allow gardeners and the gardening sector as a whole to leverage technology and help their businesses prosper.
From our award-winning proprietary Plant ID technology, our custom-built Public Gardens admissions system, our unique, won’t-find-it-anywhere-else Plant Marketplace to our vibrant social network for plant lovers around the world, no stone has been left unturned.
The next chapter for Candide is equally exciting: we’re doing it all again, but with a twist. This time, instead of providing general services to the sector, we are focussing solely on the use cases of our most innovative garden clients. Candide’s renewed impetus is to empower these trail blazers to flourish and harness the true potential of the technology that we’ve built. These gardens include Babylonstoren, The Newt In Somerset in the UK, Vignamaggio in Italy, and a few more yet to be revealed (but equally dazzling)! Our clients aren’t your average park walkabouts, they are sophisticated, connected, pristine examples of closed-loop farm-to-plate businesses with vast complexity. Our technology runs their membership schemes, manages their restaurants, integrates with their hotel booking systems and touches every part of their visitors’ experience – we even provide their wifi. However, Candide’s vision for our clients doesn’t stop there: next up, we are reimagining their e-commerce engine and building companion native mobile apps to help take their operations to the next level.
The role
You will be joining an established data team to provide analysis and insight across our growing hospitality and e-commerce businesses. The team has built a solid foundation of core reports and are now planning to expand into different parts of the business units, as well as delivering new, more sophisticated types of analyses. You will play a key role in helping the data team achieve its long-term mission: to embed data into every decision, interaction, and process throughout the business units. To do this, you will partner with a wide range of teams across our globally distributed organisation, build deep expertise in their areas of business, and help them realise the true value of the data they collect.
In pursuit of the team's longer-term objectives, you will have the opportunity to influence the organisation's data strategy and work on key strategic projects. An important current initiative is the creation of a new cloud data warehouse, using Google BigQuery. Working closely with our dedicated data engineers, you will help build core data models in the data warehouse, and in doing so, unlock exciting new opportunities for our data and business analysts to produce actionable insight.
