Job Description: 

The basic duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Driving of a load-carrying or hauling vehicle which requires a Code 10 motor vehicle licence to be held by the driver.

• Drive safely, defensively and adhere to all road safety rules and regulations as well as the road safety laws of South Africa at all times.

• Ensure that you always portray the Company Brand appropriately, be friendly, polite, helpful, clean cut and well-groomed at all times.

• Always be punctual and able to work a flexible schedule.  Have excellent time management skills.

• Ensure that you keep up to date with your working knowledge of GPS and smartphone applications for navigational purposes, and an in depth geographical and route knowledge.

• Possess the ability to identify and resolve basic maintenance problems.

• Be trained and possess up to date first aid knowledge.

•  Ensure that the vehicle/s that are assigned to you are in good working condition and running soundly at all times.

• Ensure that any vehicle/s that you drive are in a roadworthy condition at all times.  Do not drive a vehicle that is not roadworthy.  (In a dire emergency, if your life, or the life of another person is in the balance, conditions may apply).

•  Ensure that vehicles are appropriately licenced (RAF Insurance), and licences are kept up to date and renewed prior to their expiry date at all times.

• Ensure that any vehicle/s that you drive are in a neat, clean, and tidy condition at all times.  Ensure that mileage records and logbooks are 100% accurate at all times.

• Prior to every trip, check the vehicle thoroughly.  Vehicle check includes, but is not limited to windscreen, mirrors, oil, water, tyres etc.

• Determine what type and when (if any) maintenance the vehicle/s are needed and inform management timeously to ensure that appropriate maintenance is done on the vehicles.

• Keep track of general maintenance schedules, including, but not limited to tyre condition and tread. 

•  Complete any other tasks that are assigned to you enthusiastically and with a good attitude.

• Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood, and plastic.

• Follow company standards and legal regulations to ensure safe and positive work atmosphere.

• General duties and ad hoc tasks, projects and requests when required.

Candidate Requirements

• South African citizen with an ID, residing in Johannesburg.

• Matric essential (Preference will be given to a candidate with certified defensive driving skills).

• Current, valid, legal South African driver’s licence, PRDP licence and outstanding driving record.

• Min 2 years driver experience in similar/town driving.Friendly, enthusiastic, individual with excellent time management, and customer service skills.

• Exceptional safe driving ability, confidentiality, and attention to detail is necessary, as all driving and other tasks must be carried out to the highest standards.
