ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

SALARY : R491 403 per annum

REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 or the equivalent exam at NQF Level 4 a psychology- or BA-related Bachelor's Degree (NQF 7). Social work with a psychology major or a comparable degree 3 to 5 years of supervising experience, depending on level of pay 7 or 8 in education, the teaching profession, or a closely related discipline; strong knowledge of career counselling, including an understanding of students' disabilities proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams on a computer Excellent presentation and report-writing skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills a valid driving permit strong client-focused, analytical, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, negotiating, and client-oriented abilities. Excellent organizational, planning, and financial management skills, as well as report writing, project management, team leadership, and people management abilities the capacity to work under pressure and the desire to put in extra hours if needed a track record of experience working with various populations. Positivity and the capacity to plan ahead and adjust with the ability to work well with cross-functional teams and college departments knowledge of academic assistance services for students the capacity to develop and manage internal controls and administrative procedures that assure quality student support abilities in tactical decision-making the capacity to coordinate sports, arts, and culture activities Understanding of the PSET and CET Act and Teaching and Learning Knowledge of the National Student Financial Aid Plan and related laws Understanding of the Public Service Rules, Public Service Act, and Labor Relations Act understanding of the public TVET sector, including its rules and laws Understanding of the ethical, legal, and regulatory context awareness and comprehension of the higher education field and the Education Act.


DUTIES : Management and supervision of the College's Student Support Services unit overall Administration and delivery of counseling services for students managing and providing students with academic support, counseling, and career coaching Supervision and facilitation of the growth of student leadership and student government Organize the integration of gender and disability issues among students Administration and execution of the college's athletics, recreation, arts, and cultural programs management of the unit's whole human, financial, and other resource base reporting frequently to senior management give timely and pertinent managerial information.
