About INSETA And ISSF

The main goal of the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA) is to increase the quantity and calibre of important and in-demand skills within the insurance industry. These abilities promote the country’s transformation while enhancing the sector.

Aiming to serve the whole insurance value chain, the Insurance Sector Student Fund (ISSF) Bursary Scheme. The ISSF gets support from companies in the public and commercial sectors that are dedicated to reskilling, upskilling, and multiskilling graduates, workers, and students in a variety of economic sectors.

INSETA ISSF Bursary 2024

INSETA is making a call for applications for the ISSF (Insurance Sector Student Fund) Bursary 2024.

The bursaries are primarily for individuals in the fields of insurance and related sectors irrespective of their employment status.

Bursaries are awarded on the following basis:

  • Academic

  • Financial need

The bursary will cover the below-mentioned expenses (Unemployed students):

  • Tuition fees in full.

  • Textbooks, accommodation, and meals.

  • Tech devices like laptop or data.

  • A monthly allowance.

The bursary will cover the below-mentioned expenses (Employed students):

  • tuition fees and a book allowance where applicable. The bursaries are awarded on a sliding scale.

If you do not receive any updates on your application within 90 days, please consider your application rejected.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants need to satisfy the following requirements to be eligible for the bursary programme:

  • You must be a citizen of South Africa.

  • You need to be in Matric in 2023 or must have completed it.

  • You need to be in an age group of 18-35 if you’re unemployed to apply or if you’re employed, you can apply at any age.

  • You must study or plan to study in a South African tertiary university.

Please note that failure to meet any requirements may lead to disqualification.

You need to download and complete the INSETA ISSF Bursary Application Form 2024 (.pdf)

After filling up the application form, please email the applications form at:

Please write “INSETA ISSF Bursary Application” in your email subject.

Documents Required

To apply, please attach the following documents with the form. It is mandatory to submit all the documents. Failure to provide all documents may lead to disqualification.

  • A certified copy of your ID.

  • Certified copy of Matric results.

  • ISSF POPIA form (PDF).

  • If employed, letter of employment.

  • Course Quotation on institution’s letterhead.

  • Your most recent academic record on your institution’s letterhead.

  • Registration proof from institution on their letterhead.

  • Registration proof from institution on their letterhead.

  • Certified copy of household income, death certificates if deceased, bank statements, and SASSA letter if receiving a grant.

  • Employed applicants:

  • Unemployed applicants:

    • Completed ISSF Learner Agreement (.pdf)

    • Completed INSETA Business Information Tool (BI-Tool) (.xlsx)

    • Accommodation Fee/ Course Quotation (on institutions letterhead)

    • A certified copy of your parents or guardians ID documents/ death certificates/ affidavit if deceased ()

    • A certified copy of your parents or guardians 3 months recent payslips/ bank statements (certified copy)

    • A certified copy of your parents or guardians affidavit and SASSA letter if receiving a grant (certified copy)

Closing Date

Applications for the INSETA ISSF Bursary are open till 16 December 2023. Any applications after this date will stand canceled.
