The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) seeks a self-motivated individual to help maintain and conserve the natural areas of the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden (Estate). This role focuses on critical tasks like fire control, perimeter maintenance, erosion management, and alien invasive species control.

🔑 Key Responsibilities:

• 🛠️ Control alien and invasive species and apply herbicides
• 🔥 Assist in veld fire management and control
• 🏰 Maintain perimeter fences and other infrastructure
• 🚜 Operate horticultural motorized equipment (e.g., chainsaws, ride-on mowers, brush-cutters)
• 🌱 Provide customer service and support risk and safety management

🎓 Qualifications & Requirements:

• 📜 Grade 10 with 3 years of relevant experience, or Grade 12 with 2 years of experience in a similar role
• 🏫 Higher Education Qualification or NQF 5 in a related field will be an added advantage
• ⚙️ Knowledge of basic conservation practices and invasive control
• 🔧 Proficiency in using horticultural equipment such as chainsaws and lawnmowers
• 🔍 Attention to detail with an ability to work efficiently under pressure
