The CoJ is offering 200 undergraduate bursaries to youth residing in Johannesburg, giving them the chance to pursue higher education and build meaningful careers across various professional fields.

💰 Bursary Coverage, Renewal & Selection

Successful candidates will receive funding of up to R40 000 per year, covering:

  • Registration & Tuition Fees
  • Prescribed Textbooks and Study Materials

The bursary is renewable each year based on academic performance. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted within 6 weeks after the closing date.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) Bursary 2026, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen permanently residing in Johannesburg, Gauteng
  • Be currently in Matric (Grade 12) or have completed Matric
  • Be studying or planning to study full-time toward an undergraduate qualification in one of the approved fields
  • Be enrolled or accepted at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Not receive any other bursary or financial aid
