🎯 Purpose of the Role
The Chief Construction Project Manager directs project management strategies, infrastructure design audits, financial resourcing, and governance across the Building Infrastructure Maintenance component within the Mopani District.
📝 Key Responsibilities
Project Design & Analysis: Perform final reviews, approvals, and audits on project designs; coordinate cross-disciplinary design integration in line with modern technologies.
Operational Effectiveness: Manage the execution of project management strategies through structured operational systems, setting project specifications, standards, and performance service levels.
Financial Governance & MTEF Management: Oversee capital project portfolios, manage MTEF budget allocations, monitor cash flows, and ensure effective resourcing for discipline-related programs.
Risk & Knowledge Governance: Compile risk logs, manage operational risks, provide technical consulting, and implement knowledge-sharing initiatives across departmental operations.
People & Performance Management: Lead, motivate, and direct project teams, establishing performance standards, monitoring Key Performance Areas (KPAs), and managing staff development.
✅ Job Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
An NQF Level 7 qualification as recognized by SAQA in the Built Environment (e.g., Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science).
Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant post-qualification experience as a registered Professional Construction Project Manager (Pr.CPM) with the SACPCMP.
A valid driver’s license (except for persons with disabilities).
Technical Competencies: Project design and analysis, computer-aided engineering applications, legal and operational compliance, technical consulting, and maintenance management.
Generic Competencies: Strategic leadership, financial management under PFMA, problem-solving, change management, stakeholder negotiation, and project governance.
