The Gauteng Office of the Premier serves as the strategic hub of the Gauteng Provincial Government, driving provincial policy, governance, service delivery oversight, and public integrity. 🎯 Purpose of the Role

The Chief Director: Provincial Forensic Audits provides executive leadership, strategy, and oversight for fraud prevention, forensic investigations, and anti-corruption initiatives across all Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) departments and public entities.

📝 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for fraud prevention strategies and forensic investigations across GPG departments and entities.

  • Review, maintain, and oversee the implementation of the Provincial Forensic Investigation Methodology, Standard Operating Procedures, and Anti-Corruption Strategy.

  • Lead the administration and handling of National Anti-Corruption Hotline (NACH) reports for all GPG departments in collaboration with the Public Service Commission (PSC).

  • Review investigation reports and technical documentation to ensure findings meet required standards and evidence thresholds.

  • Manage and supervise investigative teams and contracted specialists, ensuring quality control, adherence to timelines, and proper procurement of forensic services.

  • Oversee comprehensive ICT data analytics and database management to support forensic audit activities.

  • Build strategic relationships with law enforcement agencies (e.g., SAPS, Hawks, NPA) to facilitate the reporting and prosecution of fraud and corruption cases.

  • Ensure lessons learned from investigations are incorporated into GPG policies to strengthen internal controls and risk management.

  • Manage human and financial resources, operational planning, and periodic reporting to executive leadership and oversight bodies (such as the Audit Committee).

✅ Job Requirements

  • An NQF Level 7 qualification in Law (BA Law, B.Juris, B.Com Law, B.Proc, LLB) OR Accounting, Finance, or Forensic Auditing recognized by SAQA. (An NQF Level 8 qualification in a related field is an added advantage).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a Senior Managerial Level (SMS) AND 7 or more years’ experience in forensic investigations or law enforcement specializing in commercial crimes.

  • Professional Certification: Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) qualification is an added advantage.

  • Pre-Entry Requirement: Successful completion of the NSG Nyukela Pre-Entry Programme (Certificate for Entry into the SMS) prior to appointment.

  • Competencies: Deep knowledge of the PFMA, public sector governance, commercial crime law, ICT data analytics, risk management, and stakeholder negotiation. Willingness to work long and irregular hours.

📌 Special Note on SMS Requirements & Preference

Applicants must complete the SMS Pre-Entry Programme offered by the National School of Government (www.thensg.gov.za). Shortlisted candidates will undergo two pre-entry assessments (a practical technical exercise and an integrity assessment) followed by psychometric testing. In line with the Department's Employment Equity Plan, equitable representation across designated groups will be prioritized.
