🎯 Purpose of the Role

The Inspector Maintenance Operations monitors and audits road maintenance projects, ensuring all maintenance activities and capital road works conform strictly to quality specifications, safety acts, and civil construction standards across assigned districts.

📝 Key Responsibilities

• Standards & Compliance Inspection: Inspect road maintenance works on site to verify compliance with departmental standards and technical specifications; produce detailed quality assessment reports and advise teams on corrective actions.

• Technical Guidance & Skills Development: Provide hands-on guidance to maintenance crews, conduct skills audits, identify technical training needs, and deliver in-house training for field personnel.

• Capital Projects Monitoring: Inspect capital road infrastructure projects, represent the department in technical project meetings, and prepare monitoring reports.

• Community & Stakeholder Liaison: Attend joint meetings with the Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) and local communities regarding road quality status, resolve technical maintenance queries, and submit comprehensive written feedback.

✅ Job Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.

• An accredited Trade Diploma / Trade Test Certificate in a relevant field.

• Minimum of three (3) years’ hands-on experience in road maintenance.

• A valid driver’s license (except for persons with disabilities).

• Technical Competencies: Knowledge of artisan-related activities, relevant Public Service Acts and frameworks, machinery operations, and the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.

• Generic Competencies: Problem-solving and analysis, decision-making, team leadership, financial awareness, communication, computer skills, planning and organizing, and conflict management.
